30제곱미터 남짓한 작은 집이지만, 아파트와 다세대(다가구)로 양극화된 시대에서 다양한 주거공간의 제공이라는 의미는 결코 작지만은 않을 것이다. 신축이 불가한 조건에서 대수선을 통해 현대적 삶을 담은 대안 주거의 스펙트럼에 색을 하나 추가하고자 했다.

균형 잡힌 대수선
도시화, 고밀화에 따른 도시집중시기 이후, 인구구조와 사회 변화로 인해 빈집이 증가하고 있다. 지역여건상 신축이 어려운 지역의 주택들은 슬럼화가 가속된다. 적정 비용과 합리적인 계획으로 동네의 활력을 제고하는 지역성과 시대성의 주거공간으로 균형 잡힌 대수선이다.

공간의 재구성
1인 가구를 위한 최소한의 생활기능과 이를 위한 공간구성을 재구성했다. 거실, 주방, 식당, 서재 등의 기능적 구분을 대화, 요리, 독서, 작업 등 일상의 행위를 기반해 시간대에 맞춰 담아낼 수 있는 공간으로 재구성했다. 1인 주거를 위한 생활공간 프로그램의 재구성이다.

가족의 재구성
가족 구성원이 하나의 공간에서 생활하는 ‘물리적인 집’의 개념에서, 필요한 시간에 필요한 관계와 행위를 함께할 수 있는, 가족 구성원들을 유연하게 대응하는 ‘관계지향적 집’의 개념으로 재구성했다. 사회적 인간관계와 반려동물과의 교감을 염두에 둔, 가족의 확장성을 담은 사용자의 재구성이다.

Although it is a small house of about 30 square meters, the significance of providing diverse residential spaces in an era polarized between apartments and multi-family housing complexes cannot be understated. Even under conditions where new construction is not feasible, I aimed to add a new color to the spectrum of alternative housing that encapsulates modern living through thoughtful design.

Balanced major renovation
Since the urbanization and densification, there has been a trend of urban concentration, leading to an increase in vacant houses due to demographic shifts and societal changes. In areas where new construction is difficult due to local conditions, housing stock is accelerating towards slumification. A balanced alternative housing solution that revitalizes the neighborhood’s vitality with reasonable costs and rational planning, while also embodying locality and contemporaneity, is essential.

Reconstruction of space
I reorganized the minimum functional requirements for single person households and redesigned the spatial layout accordingly. The functional divisions such as living room, kitchen, dining area, and study were reconfigured into spaces that cater to daily activities such as socializing, cooking, reading, and working, organized according to the appropriate timeframes. This is a reconfiguration of living space programs tailored for single-person residences.

Family reconstruction
I reimagined the concept of the “physical home,” where family members coexist within a single space, into a “relationship-oriented home,” which flexibly accommodates family members to engage in necessary relationships and activities at appropriate times. This reconceptualization prioritizes social human relationships and interaction with pets, embodying the adaptability of family dynamics based on the user’s needs.
