A friendly house

건축주는 결혼을 앞두고 있는 예비 신혼부부였다. ‘정다운집’은 남편이 아내에게 선물한 로맨틱한 건물명이다. 부부는 아파트 대신 집을 짓는 것을 선택해 조금은 다른 라이프 스타일을 만들고 싶어했고, 이에 맞춰 설계를 진행했다.
계획부터 공사가 진행되는 동안까지 대지가 가지고 있는 형태로 인해 어려움을 겪은 프로젝트였다. 좁고, 꺾이고, 여유 공간이 없는 대지. 하지만 건축주의 니즈와 시공사의 원활한 진행으로 깔끔하면서 간결한 외관을 가진 건축물을 만들게 되었다.

건축주들은 작지만 외부에서 바비큐가 가능한 3층의 작은 중정과 주차 걱정 없는 1층 주차장을 원했다. 이렇게 건축주들의 요구사항을 듣고, 그 대지에 맞게 잘 풀어내면 더 나은 결과가 나오는 듯하다.

예전의 건물이 사라지고 그 공간, 그 대지에 새로운 건물이 생겼을 때, 그곳은 분명 더 나은 방향으로 바뀌고 변화할 것이다. 이 프로젝트 역시 그 범위 안에서 앞으로 나아갈 것이다. 기존 동네가 갖고 있는 무질서 속에서 조금은 다른 외관과 조금 더 정돈된 입면의 모습, 그리고 이 동네가 가지고 있는 대지의 수많은 형상 속에서 맞추어 나갈 건축물의 배치까지 동네와 잘 어울려 자리 잡기를 원한다.
새롭게 생겨나는 건축물은 동네의 분위기를 바꾸고, 거리의 모습을 변화시키며, 움직이는 사람들의 풍경을 다채롭게 할 것이다.

건축물을 지을 수 있는 용기를 가진 건축주. 어려운 대지 환경 속에서 공사를 잘 진행해준 시공사. 건축주와 많은 이야기를 나누고 그것을 구현할 수 있는 건축사사무소. 집을 짓는 일은 혼자 하는 것이 아니라 여러 분야의 사람들이 머리를 맞댄 생각의 집합체인 듯하다. 좋은 기회를 준 건축주와 잘 구현해준 시공사에 응원과 감사를 남긴다.

The client were a soon-to-be-married couple, and ‘Jung Daun House’ was the romantic name the husband gifted to his wife for the building. Opting to build a house instead of buying an apartment, the couple aimed to create a slightly different lifestyle, and the design was tailored accordingly.
From planning to construction, the project faced challenges due to the shape of the land—narrow, twisted, with little space to spare. However, with the homeowner’s needs in mind and smooth execution by the construction company, a building with a neat and simple exterior was created.

The client desired a small courtyard on the third floor where barbecues could be enjoyed and a parking lot on the first floor without worries. It seems that by listening to the homeowners’ requirements and solving them according to the site, better results were achieved.

When old buildings disappear and new ones emerge in their place, that space, that land will undoubtedly change and evolve for the better. This project, too, will move forward within those boundaries. I hope it integrates well with the neighborhood, with slightly different exteriors and a more organized facade amidst the disorderliness of the existing neighborhood and the multitude of shapes the land holds. New buildings that emerge will change the neighborhood’s atmosphere, alter the appearance of the streets, and enrich the scenery of people in motion.

To the client with the courage to build, the construction company that carried out the project well in challenging land conditions, and the architectural firm that facilitated many discussions and brought them to fruition, I extend my support and gratitude. Building a house is not a solitary endeavor; it’s a collective effort of minds from various fields. Cheers to the homeowner who provided a great opportunity and the construction company that implemented it well.
