기존에 카센터와 우유대리점으로 사용되던 건축물은 자그마한 근린공원(역삼 은행나무 공원)을 바로 길 건너에 두고 있었다. 리모델링될 건축물이 공원을 비롯해 인접한 장소들에 어떻게 하면 좋은 영향을 줄 수 있을까 하는 고민이 시작되었다. 
공원은 밤이 되면 많이 어두웠는데, 건축물의 정면이 이러한 공원을 밝히는 장치로 활용되는 것도 의미가 있다고 생각했다. 입면의 창을 통해 나온 빛들이 어두운 공원을 감싸며 다다를 수 있는 형태로 계획했다. 처음에는 입면 전체가 조명이 될 수 있게 계획하였으나, 비용 등의 현실적 이유로 적극적인 실현은 되지 못했다. 그럼에도 리모델링된 건축물과 공원은 여전히 단단한 상호보완적 관계를 맺고 있다. 
이런 관계성에서 도출된 곡면은 건축물의 루프탑으로 이어지며, 기능상으로도, 공간적으로도 공원의 영역을 확장한다는 개념을 견지하고 있다. 이러한 일련의 요소들에 대한 건축주의 공감 아래, 곡선이 갖는 기능적 해석을 디자인 의도로도 담아보았다.

The building, which was used as a car service center and milk agency, have a small neighborhood park (Yeoksam Ginkgo Park) right across the street. We began to think about how the building to be remodeled could have a positive impact on the park and its surrounding places.
The park was very dark at night, and we thought it was meaningful that the facade of the building was used as a tool to light up the park. It was designed in such a way that the light coming through the windows on the elevation can reach, surrounding the dark park. The entire elevation was originally planned to be illuminated, but it was not actively realized for practical reasons, such as cost. Nevertheless, the remodeled building and the park still have a strong complementary relationship.
The curved surface derived from this relationship leads to the roof top of the building, and maintains the concept of expanding the area of the park both functionally and spatially. With the client's empathy for these elements, the functional interpretation of the curve was also included in the design intention.
