카페, 모두를 위해 열린 공간
카페는 이제 우리 주변에서 가장 흔하게 찾아볼 수 있는, 모두를 위해 열린 상업적 공공영역이다. 이러한 공공영역은 불특정 다수의 방문자가 자유롭게 방문하고 향유할 수 있는 환대의 공간이 되어야만 한다. 이러한 생각으로부터 프로젝트가 시작되었다.
건물이 들어설 대지는 전면도로보다 약 1.5미터가량 낮게 꺼져 있었으며, 도로에 접한 폭이 좁고 길이가 긴 형상이었다. 이러한 대지 상황에서 첫 번째 디자인 이슈는 대지 단차를 극복하여 높은 도로 레벨과 낮은 대지 레벨을 자연스럽게 연결하는 것이었으며, 두 번째 이슈는 전면에 면한 폭이 좁은 대지의 특성을 효율적으로 활용해 건물과 외부공간을 배치함으로써 카페 방문자들의 움직임을 대지 내부로 끌어들이는 것이었다. 그리고 세 번째 이슈는 바다와 직접 닿아있지 않은 아쉬운 대지 조건을 극복하고 매력적인 공간을 만들기 위해 풍부한 내·외부공간을 조성하는 것이었다. 
이러한 디자인 이슈들을 통해 건축이 땅과 밀접하게 관계를 갖도록 하고, 방문자들이 내부와 외부를 통하여 자연스럽게 이 장소의 모든 영역을 접근하고 경험할 수 있도록 설계하고자 했다.

Cafe, open space for everyone
Cafes are now the most commonly found commercial public spaces around us, open to everyone. This public area must be a space of hospitality where an unspecified number of visitors can freely visit and enjoy. The project began with this thought.
The site where the building will be built was about 1.5 meters lower than the front road, and the width facing the road was narrow and long. In this site situation, the first design issue was to overcome the site level difference and naturally connect the high road level and the low site level, and the second issue was to efficiently utilize the characteristics of the narrow site facing the front to create a building and external space. By placing , the movement of cafe visitors was drawn into the site. And the third issue was to create abundant internal and external space to overcome the unfortunate site condition of not being in direct contact with the sea and create an attractive space.
Through these design issues, we attempted to design the architecture to have a close relationship with the land and to allow visitors to naturally access and experience all areas of the place through the interior and exterior.
