Osan cultural center

 

 

 

기존 미술관이 위치한 삼각형 모양의 대지 내에 문화원을 신축하는 프로젝트이다. 대지의 북서쪽으로는 오산천이 흐르고, 동쪽으로는 기존 미술관이 자리 잡고 있다. 
대지로 접근하는 다양한 동선과 기존에 존재하던 대지 내 여러 보행자 동선을 해치지 않는 계획을 필요로 했다. 또한 대지 내 약 2~4미터의 레벨차를 활용한 배치 및 공간 계획이 요구되었다. 오산천의 수려한 자연 경관을 건축 공간 안으로 끌어들여 오산천변에 자리 잡은 이점을 최대한 활용하고 싶었다.

 

순응하는, 그래서 스며드는 건축
기존 미술관 진입 동선의 변경을 최소화하고 미술관이 가지고 있던 시스템에 순응하기 위해 필로티를 적극적으로 활용했다. 건물을 들어 올림으로써 기존의 모든 동선을 유지했고, 대지 내 레벨차를 활용해 1층과 2층에서 문화원으로 출입이 가능하도록 계획했다.
기존 미술관의 2개동 형태가 만들어 낸 삼각형 모양의 외부 공간을 침범하지 않고 함께 공유하면서 대지 내 중심적 역할을 할 수 있도록, 문화원도 2개의 매스로 보이는 형태 계획을 하여 미술관과 문화원 사이에 삼각형 모양의 중앙 광장을 대지 전체의 구심점이 되도록 배치를 계획했다.
또 대지의 형상을 따라 건물의 형태를 갖추면서 내부 공간의 효율성을 극대화할 수 있는 평면구성을 계획했다. 정형화된 공간들이 삼각형 예각으로 만나 비정형의 공간이 형성되면서 외부로의 열린 공간을 자연스럽게 확보했고, 그 결과 오산천변으로 최대한 많은 외부 공간이 만들어졌다.
여러 진입로가 존재하고 다양한 각도에서 조망하므로 형태와 입면에서 다채로운 느낌을 줄 수 있도록 하고, 미관을 해치는 시설은 시선이 닿지 않는 공간에 설치해 주변 경관과 어우러지도록 계획했다.
옥상에는 정원과 공연장을 계획해 휴식공간과 다양한 문화 이벤트가 가능하도록 했다.

This project involves constructing a cultural center on a triangular plot of land where an existing art museum is located. To the northwest of the site flows the Osancheon Stream, and to the east stands the existing art museum. The plan needed to accommodate various access routes to the site and preserve the existing pedestrian pathways within the land. Additionally, the design required the use of the site’s 2 to 4 meter level difference for the layout and spatial planning. The goal was to incorporate the beautiful natural scenery of the Osancheon Stream into the architectural space, maximizing the advantages of its location along the stream.

Architecture that Adapts and Integrates
To minimize changes to the existing art museum’s access routes and align with its established system, we actively utilized piloti. By elevating the building, we preserved all existing pathways and utilized the site’s level differences to allow entry to the cultural center from both the first and second floors.
To avoid encroaching on the triangular external space created by the two wings of the existing art museum and to share this space, the cultural center was also designed with two masses. This layout forms a triangular central plaza between the museum and the cultural center, positioning it as the focal point of the entire site.
Furthermore, the building’s shape was designed to follow the contours of the site, optimizing internal spatial efficiency. Regularly shaped spaces meet at the acute angles of the triangle, creating irregular spaces and naturally securing open areas leading to the Osancheon Stream. This design maximizes the creation of external spaces along the stream.
With multiple access points and views from various angles, the form and facade were designed to offer a dynamic aesthetic. Unsightly facilities were placed out of sight to harmonize with the surrounding landscape.
The rooftop includes a garden and a performance venue, providing a space for relaxation and various cultural events.
