농부의 정원과 닮은 백설농부
백설농부는 농부인 건축주가 지역 농부들과 상생을 도모하는 소매점 겸 카페, 그리고 정원이다. 이 프로젝트는 지역 농부들의 연대를 강화하고 지역사회와 함께 성장하려는 건축주의 비전을 담아 세 가지 목표로 정리된다. 첫째, 건물 전체에 농부의 정서를 담아내는 것, 둘째, 정원을 위한 건축을 실현하는 것, 셋째, 정원의 오브제로서 건축의 역할을 수행하는 것이다.

농부의 건축: 세련된 헛간의 재해석
세련된 헛간의 이미지를 구현하기 위해 글루램 중목 구조를 채택했다. 글루램 중목은 집성 접착된 목재로 높은 강도와 안정성을 지니며, 내부에서 아름다운 정원을 조망할 수 있는 대형 창을 구현할 수 있게 만든다. 노출된 글루램 중목 구조와 대형 창으로 들어오는 자연광, 목재 인테리어는 농부의 따뜻함을 공간에 전달한다. 이 공간은 사용자들의 감성을 자극하며, 잊지 못할 경험을 선사한다.

정원의 건축: 정원과의 조화
백설농부는 A동과 B동으로 구성된다. A동은 도로에 인접해 방문자들의 호기심을 유발하며, 새롭게 조성된 앞마당을 통해 그 효과를 극대화한다. B동은 지형의 높이차를 활용해 경사지 아랫부분에 배치, 3미터 높이차를 가진 지형은 산기슭의 이끼 정원을 연상시키는 경관을 조성한다. 음지의 이끼 정원은 B동에서 조망 가능하도록 설계되어 카페 이용자들에게 독특한 경험을 제공한다.

오브제로서의 건축: 정원과의 어울림
백설농부의 외형은 정원의 세련된 오브제로 기능하도록 디자인했다. 벽과 지붕은 나무의 질감을 살려 규화 처리된 적삼목으로 마감했으며, 파사드는 지붕과 벽의 경계에 창을 두어 경계를 모호하게 처리했다. 날카로운 디자인의 처마는 건물에 독특한 미적 감각을 더해준다.

A Garden Resembling a Farmer’s Spirit: Baekseol Farm
Baekseol Farm is a retail shop, café, and garden created by a farmer-owner to foster cooperation with local farmers. This project encapsulates the owner’s vision of enhancing the solidarity among local farmers and growing together with the community, structured around three primary goals: first, to imbue the entire building with the farmer’s ethos; second, to realize architecture that serves the garden; third, to position the architecture as an object within the garden.

Farmer’s Architecture : A Refined Barn Interpretation
To capture the essence of a refined barn, we adopted a glulam timber structure. Glulam timber, an engineered wood product, boasts high strength and stability due to its glued laminated composition, allowing for the creation of large windows that offer splendid views of the garden from the interior. The exposed glulam structure, ample natural light through large windows, and wooden interiors convey the warmth of a farmer’s life, stimulating visitors’ emotions and creating lasting memories.

Garden Architecture: Harmony with the Landscape
Baekseol Farm consists of two buildings, A and B. Building A, situated adjacent to the road, prevents direct visibility of the yard from the road, thus arousing curiosity and inviting visitors inside. The newly created front yard accentuates this effect. Building B utilizes the site’s topography by being placed on the lower part of the sloped terrain, which features a 3-meter height difference. This terrain is reminiscent of a moss garden at the foot of a mountain, creating a picturesque view. The shaded moss garden, visible from Building B, offers café visitors a unique experience, turning the topographical difference into a distinctive feature of the café.

Architecture as an Object: Integration with the Garden
The exterior of Baekseol Farm aims to function as an elegant object within the garden. The walls and roof are finished with thermally treated red cedar to blend with the natural surroundings. The façade features windows at the junction of the roof and walls, creating a sense of ambiguity and sophistication. The sharp design of the eaves adds a unique aesthetic to the building.
