아차! 결승선을 앞두고 법규에 걸려 넘어진...

설계를 하다보면 한 눈에 스토리가 보여 쉽고 편한 것 이 있지만, 때로는 다양한 운용의 묘를 살릴 수 있는 프로젝트가 재미있기도 하다. 가로변에 무려 354미 터를 접하고 폭 42미터의 좁고 긴 도시공원 내에 위치 한 의왕시 다목적체육관이 바로 후자의 경우였다. 대 지 자체도 재미있지만, 민간이 시공하여 사용승인 후 의왕시에 기부하는 방식의 공공건축물이라서 의왕시 와의 협의는 차치하고, 많은 부분에서 좀 편안(?)하게 설계 할 수 있었다.

 

배드민턴 코트에 중점을 두지만, 시민들을 위한 다목 적 체육관으로 폭넓게 활용될 수 있도록 한쪽 면에 무 대를 설치하고 그 뒤로는 실내 암벽 등반장을 구상했 다. 가장 중요한 채광계획은 운동에 방해되는 직사광선을 피하되, 채광이 가능한 U-Glass 및 천창을 사선 으로 길게 북쪽을 향하게 설치하여 채광과 차단의 상 반된 효과를 동시에 해결했다.

 

체육관 특유의 단조롭고 커다란 입면에는 U-Glass와 백색 세라믹 패널에 폭이 좁은 띠를 가로로 촘촘히 배 치하여, 태양의 움직임에 따라 시시각각 변화하는 빛 의 시각화를 공간의 요소에 접목시켰다.

 

그러나 이 프로젝트는 공공건축물이지만 설계자의 의 견이 잘 반영되는 분위기 덕분에 신속하고 순조롭게 진 행되던 차에, 지구단위계획을 맡은 엔지니어사가 ‘체육 관은 체육공원에만 설치가능하다’는 법규를 놓치고 만 어처구니없는 실수로 인하여 결국 무산되고 말았다.

It is sometimes easy and simple in designing when I can see a story at a glance, but sometimes it is fun to carry out a project that can come up with various good strategies. The latter was the case of the Uiwang Multipurpose Gymnasium, located in a narrow and long urban park with a total length of 354m on the roadside and a width of 42m. Although the site itself is interesting, it is a public building in the way that it is constructed by the private sector and donated to Uiwang City after the approval of use, so it was relatively easy to design, apart from the discussion with Uiwang City.

 

We focused on a badminton court, but set up a stage on one side so that it could be widely used as a multipurpose gymnasium for the citizens, and then designed indoor rock climbing on the back side. The most important lighting was designed to avoid the direct sunlight that interferes with exercising, and to solve the contrasting effects of lighting and blocking at the same time by installing U-Glass and skylights diagonally to the north.

 

In the gym’s unique monotonous and huge elevation, narrow bands were densely arranged horizontally in the U-Glass and white ceramic panels to apply the visualization of the light, which changes every moment with the movement of the sun, into the elements of space.

 

This project progressed smoothly since the designer’s opinions were well reflected, although it was a real public building. However, it was eventually canceled because the Engineering Company in charge of district unit planning made an absurd mistake that i neglected thegnored legislation ‘allowing Ggymnasiums must beto be installed only in Ssports Pparks’.
