YOO-KIDS IN THE HOUSE

 

 

 

멀지 않은 도심의 아파트에서 살고 있던 건축주는 아이들을 위해 넓은 마당과 정원이 있는 주택을 짓기로 했고, 우리는 아이들을 위해 짓는 집에 연예인 유재석이 진행하는 프로그램 유퀴즈에서 아이디어를 얻어 ‘유키즈 인 더 하우스(YOO KIDs In The House)’라 이름 지어 주었다.
 
해당 필지는 남쪽으로 푸른 소나무가 울창한 공원을 마주하고 있었다. 남향으로 품은 마당과 함께 햇살이 잘 드는 1층에는 실내 놀이터와 주방, 다이닝룸, 거실을 배치했다. 거실은 단을 낮추어 좀 더 아늑한 가족들의 쉼터가 되도록 했고, 역으로 다시 높아진 평상은 창 넘어 이어진 테라스와 레벨이 같아 외부공간까지 실내로 넓게 끌어들인 형상이다. 

내부 공간들과 마당 그리고 공원은 서로 이어져 있는 공간들의 물리적 경계는 있지만 시선이 막힘없이 넘나들며 어디서나 아이들이 뛰어노는 모습을 볼 수 있다. 띄엄띄엄 비워진 벽돌을 쌓는 방식으로 세운 담장과 난간. 창대석은 빛을 받아들이고 시선은 걸러주며 건축적 차경으로서의 역할을 한다. 

외부 마당부터 실내 각 층은 모두 아이들의 놀이터가 되고, 경사 지붕 아래의 다락과 평지붕 위 넓은 옥상공간 또한 아이들이 뛰어놀 수 있는 또 다른 놀이터이다. 동선과 공간 구성은 가족 모두의 편리함을 고려해 설계되었으며, 이 집이 가족이 함께 성장하고 행복을 나누는 보금자리가 되길 기대해 본다.

The client, who had been living in an apartment not far from the city center, decided to build a house with a spacious yard and garden for their children. Inspired by the show You Quiz on the Block hosted by celebrity Yoo Jae-suk, we named the house “YOO KIDs In The House“ for the Yoo family.  

The site faces a lush park with tall pine trees to the south. On the sunlit first floor, which opens up to the south-facing yard, we placed an indoor playground, kitchen, dining room, and living room. The living room floor was lowered to create a cozy family retreat, while the raised wooden platform is level with the terrace beyond the windows, extending the interior space outward. 

Although there are physical boundaries between the interior spaces, the yard, and the park, the view flows freely, allowing parents to see their children playing from anywhere. The walls and railings were built using a spaced-out bricklaying technique, allowing light to filter through while maintaining privacy. These architectural elements serve as “borrowed view”(making use of natural scenery) integrating the surroundings into the house. 

From the outdoor yard to each floor inside, every space becomes a playground for the children. The attic under the sloped roof and the wide rooftop on the flat roof also serve as additional play areas where they can run around freely. The circulation and spatial organization have been designed with the convenience of the entire family in mind, and we hope this home will be a place where the family grows together and shares happiness.
