비콘그라운드는 가설건축물을 이용한 도시재생 건축물로서, 기존의 주민편의시설과 주차장을 계승하고 발전시켜 지역과 함께 상생하고자 하는 문화복합공간이다.

콘셉트
1980년 산업물동량 수송을 위한 고가도로 건설로 인해 오랜 기간 지역 간 단절과 개발부재로 소외되어 온 지역으로, 고가도로 하부는 슬럼화되어 더 이상 사람이 찾지 않는 공간이 되었다. 해양물류도시-부산을 상징하는 화물수송용 컨테이너를 이용한 입체적인 보행로와 휴게공간을 형성하고, 지상주차장 상부에는 데크를 깔아 만남의 광장으로 활용함으로써 다양한 풍경과 행위를 통한 사람과 사람의 만남이 이루어지는 문화복합공간으로 재창출하고자 했다.

접근
수영고가교는 번영로 일부로 망미동을 가로지르는 구간으로, 도심과 부산 외곽 고속도로 및 국도를 연결하는 역할을 충실히 수행하고 있지만, 그 하부공간은 도시구조의 물리적 절단선이 되어버린 채 오랜 기간 방치되어 지역의 문화적, 심리적 경계가 되어가고 있었다. 계획안에서는 고가교 하부라는 물리적 절단선에 다양한 역할과 의미를 부여하고, 길에서 즐길 수 있는 다양한 프로그램을 더해 수영고가교 하부를 새로운 관광자원이자 지역에 활력이 되는 복합생활문화공간으로 탈바꿈시키고자 하였다.

상징성 있는 랜드마크 공간
해양물류도시-부산을 상징할 수 있는 화물용 컨테이너를 활용한 계획으로 주변의 영화의 전당, 벡스코 등과 같은 대형 랜드마크와는 차별화된 새로운 랜드마크 공간을 만들고자 하였다.

영역 구분과 역할 부여
폭 16미터에 길이 1킬로미터에 달하는 구간을 지형, 교통, 주변 맥락 등의 관계를 고려하여 세 개의 구간으로 구분하고 각기 다른 기능을 부여하였다. 수영터널 측 구간에는 높은 고가교 하부공간과 경사진 지형을 활용하여 레저나 생활체육을 즐길 수 있도록 하였고, 망미역 교차로 측 구간에는 다양한 교통수단에 의한 많은 유동 인구가 쉽게 접근할 수 있도록 쇼핑공간을 배치했다. 수영사적공원과 고려제강(키스와이어)이 인접한 수영강 측 구간에는 문화·창작공간을 계획하여 수영사적공원에서 고려제강까지 이어지는 관광 루트를 이루고자 하였다.

지역과의 상생
고가교 하부는 비록 오랜 기간 방치되었지만, 37년이라는 세월 동안 지역주민과 함께 해온 생활 터전이다. 따라서 본 계획에서는 활용성이 높았던 기존의 주민편의 시설과 주차장을 그대로 계승하고 발전시켜 지역과 함께 성장하는 비콘그라운드가 될 수 있도록 하였다.

B-con Ground is an urban regeneration building using temporary construction. It is a cultural complex space to coexist with the local community by inheriting and developing the existing amenities for residents and parking lots.

Concept
The area has been neglected for a long time due to interregional disconnection and lack of development resulting from the construction of an overpass for transporting cargo volume in 1980. And the lower part of the overpass has become a kind of slum that people no longer visit. We aimed to recreate it as a multiplex cultural space where people can enjoy various landscapes and meet through many activities by forming a three-dimensional walking path and a resting area with the use of cargo containers that symbolize the maritime logistics city-Busan, and by laying a deck on the upper part of the ground parking lot to use it as a meeting plaza. 

Access
Suyeong Overpass is a section that crosses Mangmi-dong as part of Beonyeong-ro, and it connects the downtown, the Busan Outer Ring Expressway, and national roads. However, its lower space was becoming a cultural and psychological boundary of the region since it has been neglected for a long time as a physical cutting line of the urban structure. In the plan, we tried to transform the lower part of the Suyeong Overpass into a new tourism resource and a multiplex cultural space that vitalizes the region by giving various roles and meanings to the physical cutting line of the lower overpass space and by adding multiple programs to enjoy on the road.

Symbolic landmark space
It is designed to create a new landmark space that is differentiated from its significant surrounding landmarks, such as the Busan Cinema Center and BEXCO, by using cargo containers that can symbolize the maritime logistics city of Busan.

Zone division and role assignment
The 16-meter-wide and 1-kilometer-long section was divided into three sections considering the relationship between topography, traffic, and surrounding context, which can perform different functions. In the section on the side of Suyeong Tunnel, leisure and sports activity space was created by utilizing the lower area of the high overpass and the slope. In the section on the side of the intersection of Mangmi Station, a shopping space was built so that the large floating population could easily access it by various means of transportation. In addition, a cultural art space was planned in the section on the Suyeonggang River adjacent to Suyeong Sajeok Park and Kiswire to form a tourist route from Suyeongsajeok Park to Kiswire.

Win-win with the local community.
Although the lower part of the overpass has been neglected for a long time, it has been home to residents for 37 years. Therefore, B-con Ground was designed to grow together with the local area by inheriting and developing the existing amenities for residents and parking lots which were highly usable.
