사진작가 구의진

대지는 송파구 잠실동에 위치한 2종 일반주거지역에서 격자체계의 도시조직을 가지고 있는 곳이다. 인접대지는 1980년대 후반 연속적으로 유사한 설계와 같은 건축업체의 주관으로 지어진 블록체계로 구성되어 있다. 건축주는 최초 대수선을 목표로 대지를 구입하였으나, 구조 조사 결과 건물의 기초가 존재하지 않았고, 내부 철근 부식까지 상당 부분 진행되어 있는 상황이어서 목표를 신축으로 전향하였다. 협소한 대지에서 건축선까지 지정된 대지이기에, 모든 스케일과 치수들을 결정하는 데 심혈을 기울여 계획을 진행하였다. 
 
선형의 도시맥락에서 건축의 존재감을 주·야간으로 자연스레 발현시키기 위해, 층별로 모서리창을 계획하였다. 모든 이들이 선형의 도시조직에 적극적으로 스며들어 상호 소통하게 하기 위해 내부에서 외부로, 외부에서 내부로의 풍경을 교감하도록 계획하였다. 작은 제스처일지라도 층별로 운율을 만들기 위해 면의 비례와 분할을 구축하고, 솔리드와 투명을 구성하였다. 또한 흔하지 않은 골드 컬러의 수평분할 띠장을 통해 작은 매스이지만 다채롭고, 정제미를 도모해 회색도시에 작은 활력을 불어넣고자 하였다.
그러한 생각은 옥상의 조경계획까지 연장되었다. 길가를 오가는 사람들까지 계절의 변화를 느낄 수 있도록 배려하고자 하였다. 대지를 처음 접할 때부터 선형과 블록의 도시조직 안에 수목이라고는 찾아볼 수 없었던 것이 아쉬웠는데, 옥상 조경계획은 3층 공간을 향유하는 거주민에게도 삶의 활력을 선사해줄 것이라 생각한다. 무엇인가에 애정을 갖고 가꾸어간다는 것은 의미깊은 일이다.
작은 건축 안에서 모든 이들이 지속적이고 향기로운 교감을 하기를 바란다.

Located in Jamsil-dong, Songpa-gu, this site has grid-pattern urban tissue in the 2nd Class Residential District. The adjacent area in a block system where the houses have been consecutively built under the same architecture firm’s supervision with a similar design in the late 1980s. At first, the client purchased the site with the goal of entire remodeling. Still, after the review of the structure, the foundation of the building did not exist, and the internal rebar was quite corroded, so the goal was changed to constructing a new building. Since it is a site where even a limiting line of structure has been designated in this small site, we carefully carried out a plan, considering all scales and dimensions.
 
Corner windows were planned on each floor to naturally express the presence of the building day and night in the linear urban context. For everyone to actively permeate and communicate with the linear urban tissue, it was designed to communicate with the landscape inside out and vice versa. To create a rhyme for each floor, even for small gestures, we set the proportions and divisions of planes, as well as solid and transparent. In addition, we aimed to infuse life into the gray city by making it more colorful and refined. However, it is small, through horizontally divided gold furring strips, which are uncommon.
Such an idea extended to rooftop landscaping. It was designed to consider even passers-by so they could feel the seasonal change. When we first encountered the site, it was a pity that there were no trees in linear and block-type urban tissue, but we think that a rooftop landscaping plan would also vitalize the residents who enjoy the space on the 3rd floor. It is meant to nurture something with affection.
I hope that everyone will have continuous and fragrant communication with each other in this small building.
