미추홀구 체육센터는 인천 구 도심의 도시개발사업과 그로 인한 인구유입에 대비한 지역주민 운동시설의 필 요성이 제기되어 지역주민 누구나 생활체육에 참여할 수 있는 수요자 중심의 체육센터를 확충 하고자 진행된 공공체육시설 사업이다.

기존 미추홀구청의 운동장과 인접하게 해 체육시설의 집약성을 최대한 활용했으며, 대지의 고저차로 인한 지 하 1층 주출입구를 진입 동선의 메인으로 설정했다. 1층은 옥외경사를 통해 진입 가능하며, 보행자, 주차동선, 관리차량 등의 동선이 겹치지 않게 계획하여 주민들이 안심하고 이용할 수 있게 했다.

외부로 노출되는 지하 1층을 열린마당으로 계획하여 주민들의 휴게공간을 마련했다. 옥외 경사로의 남향의 진 입데크를 통해 1층으로 접근할 수 있으며, 조성된 햇살쉼터는 운동 후의 힐링 공간으로 사용된다.

It was suggested the necessity of local residence's sports facility due to the city development business of Incheon's old city and the preparation of the inflow of population, and the sports center of Michuhol-gu is a public sports facility business which was proceeded to expand a customer-centric sports center, where any body of local residence can participate in a life sports.

It was maximum utilized locality of sports facility which was adjacent to the playground of existing Michuhol-gu office, and it was configured the basement's 1st floor as the main entrance human traffic sue to the difference of site's elevation. 1st floor is possible to enter through exterior slope, and the moving line of pedestrian, parking and managing vehicle was planned not to overlap so that resident can use it safely.

The resting place was prepared by planning the basement's 1st floor where exposures toward outside as an open yard. It is possible to access 1st floor through southing entry deck of exterior slope road, and the prepared sunlight resting place is used for a healing space after exercise.
